Chris receiving a gift and card from Roger Musson, Chair of Trustees, observed by our Patron Michael More-Molyneux, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, at the Loseley Chapel in St Nicolas Church, Guildford

We are incredibly grateful for the contributions of Chris Hetherington who has served as a devoted Trustee of the Caleb Lovejoy’s Almshouse Charity for the past 10 years. Chris’s commitment to providing housing for people in need with a local connection in our beautiful Grade 2 listed building in Bury Street, Guildford has been much appreciated by her fellow Trustees and by our residents.

Since joining in 2014 Chris has played a great role in ensuring the maintenance and improvement of our building. In particular she has helped oversee the refurbishment of the cottages and the installation of new front gates and railings to replace those removed around 80 years ago to support the WW2 effort. Chris has also helped to oversee the replacement of the windows at the property with either secondary or double glazing as appropriate. Chris has been instrumental in interviewing and selecting new residents; all four of our current residents have been welcomed to the Almshouse during Chris’s time as a Trustee. As a member of our Management Committtee, Chris’s involvement in procedural, administrative and day-to-day matters has been invaluable.

(Chris receiving the Mayor’s Award for Service to the Community)

On 27th April Chris received the Mayor’s Award for Service to the Community. We were thrilled that Chris received the award for her numerous activities of benefit to the town of Guildford, including work done with us and as a volunteer for the Friends of the Guildford Museum.

While we are sad to see Chris’s time with us come to an end, we are so grateful for her service and the huge contribution that she has made to our charity. We wish her the very best for the future.
